Fascinating film that says it all really..............

I've  been interested in Ladakh and its culture for a very long time now, since I read Helena Norberg-Hodge's book  Ancient Futures - Learning from Ladakh.  A link to this wonderful film was put up today in a group I belong to on Facebook - it's well worth watching, there is so much to be learned from it. I liked the fact that as well as showing the general greed and consumerism, poverty, loneliness and isolation that can be experienced in the west, she took time to show the two woemn some of the positive aspects too - the farmers' market, the ethical shop, etc.
A real eye-opener of a film from which everyone can learn something, a joy to watch.

Unexpecteds for a Thursday.............

............   not feeling much like doing housework today, so just took things as they came. Sat by the stove keeping warm, fire box door open; socks still on; half a tea cosy knitted; lovely unexpected conversation on FB with my dear friend; several cups of tea made for me by my son; watching conspiracy theory stuff on Youtube; no cooking tonight; decadent glass of wine half way through the afternoon...........

Sometimes it's good just to kick back and take things as they unfold. After all, the ironing will be there tomorrow for me :)

Book bargain

I had these delivered today :)
A full set of all 12 self sufficiency books - Grow Your Own, Herbs and Spices, Household Cleaning, Spinning, Dyeing and weaving, Beekeeping, Cheesemaking, Foraging, Hen Keeping, HomeBrewing, Natural Remedies, Preserving, Soap Making.
I already have the Foraging one, which I paid full price for something like £6.96/£7 odd if I recall correctly. The full retail price would have been an astonishing £ 95.88 had I bought them individually.

A very worthwhile investment for the £15  The Book People were offering them for, couldn't resist!  To celebrate such a bargain, I also invested in a quilting book and a knitting book - total bill, inc p&p was £26.98.

Wonderful. :)

Serendipitous words.............

It's been a very hard weekend here for me.............. while I was looking in  a notebook for some info I needed, I came across this that I had written in some time ago:

'Do not look back or you may define yourself by what you have been, rather than by what you are becoming'

Right words for the right moment
