W.I. carbon challenge

Had a quick perusal of the W.I. homepage, and found this, which looks interesting; will go back alter and check it out when I have more time to do it justice. This is why I have great respect for the W.I. - they keep abreast of current issues and GET INVOLVED and DO THINGS!!!!! Also, there is the fact we are all women as well, so it's going to be good, isn't it? ;0)

Joining the W.I.

Finally bit the bullet last night and joined the W.I. - after all these years! I've always wanted to join, but at the last hosue there wasn't an easily accessible one, and the nearest one was a bit snooty; here there is one in the next village, but it's not very lively, and on an afternoon that would cause total disruption to our usual Friday routine, which we all know and love :0). I went with my good friend greentwinsmummy, and they were delighted we were both going to join on the spot; what a lovely bunch of friendly women. Listened to the business, then a talk on Cerne Abbas - lots of history and interesting slides on the various ancient buildings and houses there, not forgetting the giant, ofcourse! - tea and a quiz. We even sang Jerusalem............. Had a great time, and I'm looking forward to getting to know them better and joining in what seems to be a lively group.

And there it was gone..........

........... a very large part of my life!! I came off the village hall committee last night, after nine years of work for them; definitely time for a change. We managed to find 5 new members for the committee - new blood, and it will share the work out more evenly. I will continue to be a trustee, and to support the hall, but have no direct involvement in the running of it. This will free up a lot of my time, so more time for other things - like knitting and gardening :0)

Another hard frost here this morning, but not as bad as yesterday - everything int eh greenhouse and garden fine, much to my relief. Just bits and bobs today, and getting ready for the imminent forum meet this weekend - looking forward to that a lot!

Monday again..........

.......comes round fast!! Spent the day indoors eysterday, apart from livetock duties, as it was sol cold. It snowed on and off most fo the day too, and the wind got up towards the end of the afternoon. Did a major de-clutter in the bedroom and got a lot of craft stuff up to the cabin at last, where it will eventually get a final sort out, and we'll go from there. It's made a big difference in the bedroom and on the landing; the cupboard where I keep my fabric stash for quilting is almost overflowing, so that needs sorting out too, and the fabrics pressed and stcked neatly, so I can see what I actually have. I did find quite a few things I'd forgotten about too, which was nice.

Woke up to more snow here this morning, and it's cold out there. Off up to see the livestock in a minute - the goats were funny yesterday, eating the snow.......:0) Just more tidying today, bit of cleaning, usual house stuff.

got these two little gems from the tip on Friday; the spotty jug is some of the pottery made in Torquay, but I can't read the name on the bottom as it is worn off. The little pot is just th eprettiest thing I've seen for a long time, gorgeous colours.

Snow.............

.........in Dorset - in April! Bit of a surprise to wake up to this, this morning, but it's lovely. Not unheard of, but unusual for much snow at all. I love the muffledness of it, the light, the eerie quality, the enforced slowness of everything. I will enjoy looking at it while it lasts.
