Beltane blessings

Got up at 4am, and was in Cerne Abbas by 4.45, waiting for the Wessex Morris to see in the new day, new month; I didn;t maange to get up the (fairly steep) hill to the giant, but watched and listened from down below; MrL took the photos. It was up lifting and moving to watch the dawn sky break over the hill, with silhouetted figures on the skyline, the jingle of thir bells, the accordian and fiddle, singing and general good humour all drifting along on the mist as it rose up out of the valley. Treated to a great dawn chorus, lots of pheasants croaking away, and was entertained for ten minutes by a pair of partridges skittering around getting their breakfast, oblivious to the human activity around them. Best part of the day :)

On the way home, we drove through woods carpeted with wild garlic - could give the bluebell woods a run for their money any day! Absolutely stunning. I picked some leaves for the kitchen, probably use them at lunchtime I think.
