Surely the time for all this sort of thing is past?

I don't think I need to comment, really, do I? Apart from a huge sigh of despair perhaps.

If people really have £22000 to throw away like this - wouldn't it be better spent in Africa where millions are currently starving?

I agree it's time this country stopped idolising this type of excess and the whole celebrity nonsense.

Your post has pulled me out of "lurkdom" to make a comment. I find it amazing that there are people who actually think this kind of excess is acceptable. I wonder who comes up with the ideas.
Many years ago I was invited to a day seminar to discuss debt and poverty and how these issues could be addressed in my area. Lunch was provided on a lavish scale. I voiced my dismay and asked if I could have the leftovers for the homeless this was refused as I did not have a refrigerated van. I'm not a spoilsport but I find waste and excess on that scale obcene.

Thats my morning "grump" over. I also want to say how much I enjoy your blog.

It's unbelievable, isn't it, that there are people that think this sort of thing is acceptable?
