This one is of my granny, with two children of her then employer, my mother thinks. I've no further information, but love the photo.
This one is of three of my granny's siblings - , left to right, Lizzie, Jimmy and Kate. I have met them all over the years.
This one is of my granny, when she was working as a home help at Kirkland Farm for the Mathie family; taken late 60s/early 70s I should think. I rarely saw her without her pinny on!
This one, we're not 100% sure about; my mother says it could be a family friend, but I think it's my great grandfather. He was a shepherd for the Duke of Buccleuch; this photo was obviously taken at the same time as the last one - smae place, same wee boy in the picture.
This one is one of my favourite photos ever; it shows my great grandmother Agnes (nee Crosbie), sitting with my granny and the wee boy (I think he may have been part of the family, need to look into that one, it's all a bit complicated, needless to say).
I have made a start on sorting out my mother's side fo the family, but need to get hold of otehr older members before they leave us, and their knowledge and memories with them. I'm hoping to get stuck in this week; finding the internet a fascinating tool in this respect, but I could be on here for hours as one things links and leads to another........
From what my mother has said, there are all sorts of interesting characters not that far back, so looking forward to a bit of a delve fruther into the family hostory, and will post up interesting snippets when I come across them.

What lovely family photos. It's thrilling when you get some given you that are totally new to you. I take it your mum's side is the Scottish line (or are you Scots both sides?) I have some lowland blood - Border Reivers in fact! - but haven't got the actual connection yet (Cranstons).
Mum's side is Scottish, but with Yorkshire origins - that'll be picked up as the story goes along. I also have at least one Covenanter in there, which is very interesting.
Paternal side is Cornish (possibly French in origin, with our family name) and Irish. My cousin is researching that side, so I hope to have all bases covered.......!
Its a great feeling when you come across family photos. My OH lost his Father when he was only about two years old. Then my OH's Mother eventually married again and my OH's Fathers side of the family lost touch.
Many years later my daughter and I were on the Internet and decided to Google our surname.. to cut a very long and exciting story down. We accidentally fell upon a lady on the Internet who was researching the same family name and compilingg a family tree. So many things about our family matched up so we sent an email to this lady and it turned out they were my OH cousins in Australia! My OH was able to connect up to long lost relatives and obtained through rediscovered family members photographs of his Dad when he was much younger, Aunts, Uncles and cousins. My OH even discovered that although his Grandparents originated from the UK they emigrated to Australia where my OH's Dad was born. Eventually they returned to the United Kingdom and lived in the Birmingham area. Then my OH's Dad meet his mother and they married and went on to have my OH and his sister... sadly my OH's Father was killed in a factory accident when my OH was two years old and their we come full circle....
We send regular emails and correspondence to my OHs rediscovered family which is fantastic.. you never know one day we may even be able to afford to visit them in Australia.. now that would be an adventure!!
